What is CNG?
CNG stands for compressed natural gas. It is natural gas compressed to a specific pressure for use as a fuel.
Where CNG can be used?
CNG can be used as fuel in cars, buses, trucks, generators, power generation projects etc.
What is CNG Station?
CNG Station is a place where vehicles are refueled with CNG. CNG is filled in cylinder (or cylinders) installed in the vehicle for use just as gasoline (petrol) is filled at gasoline Station (Petrol pump)
What are main components of a CNG Station?
CNG Station comprises of CNG Compressor with its drive, cooling system and controls, Storage Cascade and Dispenser.
What is CNG Compressor?
CNG Compressor is used to compress natural gas available from local gas supplier to a specified pressure under controlled conditions.
What is importance of cooling system?
Cooling system plays very important role in a CNG Station. When gas is compressed, lot of heat is generated and it becomes very hot. Hot gas is harmful for compressor as it reduces its efficiency and increases wear and tear, hence increases maintenance cost. Vehicles are also not completely refueled when gas is hot so you loose customers too.
Why CNG Stations in hot countries face problems in summer?
Most of the suppliers of CNG Stations are in regions where average ambient temperature in summer is quite low as compared to that in hot regions like Pakistan, India and Bangladesh etc. They supply same packages which they designed for their region, so it troubles in hot regions
What is Storage Cascade?
It is not feasible that compressor runs at arrival of each vehicle on CNG Station. So CNG is stored in storage cascades to feed the dispenser. The size of storage at a particular station depends on capacity of compressor and number of vehicles to be filled in a day or at peak time.
What is CNG dispenser?
CNG dispenser is the unit which refuels the vehicles at CNG Station. Dispensers are available in single line, two line sequencing and three line sequencing.
What is inlet pressure of a CNG Station?
It is the pressure at which natural gas is supplied to CNG Station from local gas supplier.
What is capacity of CNG Station/CNG compressor?
It is volume of CNG that a compressor or station can deliver at required pressure in an hour or in a day.
Why capacity of compressor is important?
Capacity of compressor is important because if you have under capacity compressor than you will loose your customers as you will not be able to deliver CNG at reasonable pressure and if you have over capacity compressor then it means you have invested more than your requirement.
What is priority panel?
Priority panel decides if the incoming gas from compressor is to be filled in storage cascade or it is to be directed towards dispenser. If the pressure in storage cascade is too low that it can not feed the vehicles at dispenser than priority panel directs the incoming gas from compressor to dispenser.
If the storage cascade consist of several storage banks than it also decides the bank to be filled first from the compressor.
